SWIMMING

Swimming competitively, that is moving FAST through the water, is a function of two things .. increasing your power and decreasing your water resistance.  Focus on the latter is generally considered the best way to increase speed.  Water resistance goes down when the swimmer stays horizontal, swims as much as possible on his or her side and glides between strokes with his or her arm extended.  The Summer Olympic Games are the ultimate showcase for exceptional young swimmers.  Both the men's and women's Olympic events are held in a 50 meter competition pool.
